What a timestamp means

The meaning of a time value depends on the type of record it labels:

  • The timestamp of a 10-minute record marks the end of the interval it covers. The record 10:20 covers the interval from 10:10 to 10:20. This follows the convention of most data loggers and SCADA systems.
  • An aggregated period (hourly, daily or monthly) is labelled by its start. The hour 10:00 covers 10:00–11:00 and contains the six 10-minute records from 10:10 to 11:00. The day 2026-01-01 contains the records from 00:10 to 00:00 of the following day.
